Michelle Melendez

Michelle serves as the Philanthropy Director at Lever for Change, a nonprofit affiliate of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation that creates customized open call challenges designed to help donors find and fund solutions to the world’s biggest problems. In this role, Michelle develops and implements creative strategies for philanthropic outreach and cultivation, aiming to secure new challenges, provide donor advisory services, and facilitate connections between donors and members of the Bold Solutions Network. Michelle is also responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships to enhance Lever for Change's profile and broaden its mission while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing donors and philanthropic prospects.

Michelle brings over fifteen years of experience in philanthropy and strategic partnerships, with a focus on high-net-worth individuals and corporate relationships. Prior to joining Lever for Change, she was a member of the partnerships team at The Clinton Foundation where she was responsible for strategic research, briefings, and partner development. She has held leadership positions at diverse impact organizations, such as Change.org and Global Citizen, where she successfully generated significant revenue and built long-lasting institutional relationships. Her expertise lies in understanding the unique investment needs of philanthropists and providing proactive advice and solutions for sustainable impact.

She is passionate about leveraging philanthropy to drive social change and is committed to connecting philanthropists and changemakers with investment opportunities that align with their values and desired impact.

Michelle is a founding member of the LifeLabs Learning Community and has completed the leadership coaching program with CTI. Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Bradley University.
